Our Wards
Dublin Hospital
Mater Private Network Dublin is home to a number of specialist wards across five levels, each staffed by experienced clinical teams dedicated to delivering expert, personalised care.
Level 2
- Intensive Care Unit (ICU): providing round-the-clock critical care for patients requiring close monitoring and advanced medical support.
- St Joseph's Ward and High Dependency Unit: specialist care in Cardiothoracic and Cardiology.
Level 3
- St Teresa's Ward: a surgical ward covering Gynaecology, Breast, Plastic Surgery, Spine, ENT, and Sleep Laboratory services.
- Our Lady's Ward: a surgical ward specialising in Orthopaedic and Spinal care.
Level 4
- St Camillus' Ward: a medical and surgical ward covering Urology, Cardiology, Oncology, and Respiratory care.
- St Benedict's Ward: a medical ward specialising in Respiratory, Neurology, and Geriatric care.
- St Elizabeth's Ward: a dedicated Oncology ward.
Level 5
- St Brigid's Ward: a medical and surgical ward covering Vascular, Colorectal, Gastrointestinal, Bariatric, and Cardiology care.
All wards admit patients from the Emergency Department. Due to clinical demands, isolation requirements, or bed availability, patients may occasionally be cared for outside their usual ward cohort.
Visiting hours: 2.30pm–3.30pm and 6.30pm–7.30pm daily. For further information, check our visiting guidelines.

To speak with a nurse or to be connected to a patient, please call our reception team on 01 885 8888. The reception desk will be happy to transfer your call to the appropriate ward.
Cork Hospital
Mater Private Network Cork has specialist wards across on three levels, offering patients the reassurance of expert care tailored to their individual needs.
Ground floor
- Intensive Care Unit (ICU): providing round-the-clock critical care for patients requiring close monitoring and advanced medical support.
Level 1
- Ward 1: a medical and surgical ward covering general surgery, urology, gynaecology, general medicine.
Level 2
- Ward 2 and Critical Care Unit: specialist care in cardiothoracic, cardiology and respiratory.
Level 3
- Ward 3: a surgical ward specialising in Orthopaedic and Spinal Care.
All wards admit patients from the Emergency Department. Due to clinical demands, isolation requirements, or bed availability, patients may occasionally be cared for outside their usual ward cohort.
Visiting hours: 2pm - 4.30pm and 6.30pm - 9.00om daily. However we do encourage quiet hours on Ward 2 between 1pm - 3pm and 7pm - 7am as protected time to assist in the patient's recuperation. For further information, check our visiting guidelines.

We encourage family and friends to contact patients directly via their personal mobile phone where possible. If this is not feasible, our ward staff will be happy to assist in facilitating communication.
