About our Orthopaedic & Spine Rapid Access Service
A Rapid Access Clinic is available at Mater Private Dublin's Orthopaedic & Spine Centre, in addition to extensive sub-specialty routine clinics for a wide range of orthopaedic and spine conditions.
In the Orthopaedic & Spine Rapid Access Service we have a dedicated team of expert consultants, treating a wide range of both complex and routine orthopaedic and spinal patients.
This service accepts referrals from GPs and physiotherapists with urgent orthopaedic referrals being seen within three days while urgent spinal referrals can be processed within one week by calling directly to the orthopaedic and spine centre on 01 882 2617 or emailing orthospine@materprivate.ie.
The areas treated include conditions affecting the:
- Hip
- Knee
- Spine
- Upper limb
For rapid access spinal referrals, the list of symptoms that are considered to require urgent review include:
- Motor deficit
- Night pain
- History of cancer
If your patient is experiencing any of the following, they should go directly to the nearest emergency department to seek medical advice:
- Saddle anaesthesia
- Incontinence
