About

Education and experience

Dr. Richard Moore (MB BCh BAO MSc MRCPI FFR RCSI) is a Consultant Radiation Oncologist, with a special interest in Brachytherapy at Mater Private Network in Dublin. 

He graduated from the Royal College of Surgeons graduate medical programme in 2010 (MB BCh BAO LRCP&I), and completed Internship and general medical training (MRCPI) as part of his basic specialist training.  

He completed five years of higher specialist training in radiation oncology in the St Luke’s Network in Dublin and Galway University Hospital graduating from the Faculty of Radiology in the Royal College of Surgeons of Ireland in 2018 (FFR RCSI). 

After qualification he worked in Cork University Hospital as a locum consultant before taking up a Fellowship in Princess Margaret Cancer Centre in Toronto, Canada

Prior to his medical career, he graduated from Trinity College, Dublin University with both an Honours Degree in Science (BA Zoology) and a Masters Degree (MSc) in Molecular Medicine. 

 

Special Interests

Dr. Moore returned from fellowship in 2021 to a consultant post at Mater Private Network and to complete a two year mentorship in brachytherapy with Dr. Michael Maher, a leading specialist in Ireland. Dr. Maher had grown and fostered a highly experienced team with over twenty years experience, consisting of radiation therapists and physics staff and working closely with our radiology colleagues at Mater Private Network. 

He leads Mater Private Network in Dublin brachytherapy team in the radiation oncology unit, providing a highly experienced brachytherapy service to offer a complete range of treatment options, either brachytherapy or external beam radiation alone or combination brachytherapy and external beam treatments, with a strong evidence based approach. 

 

Clinical research and Professional Memberships

During his time in Princess Margaret Cancer Centre in Toronto, Dr. Moore completed a Fellowship with the Head and Neck programme and in the Lung Programme, with clinic experience and research whilst there. He also completed a Masters Degree (MSc) in Dublin University, Trinity College Dublin. 

Dr. Moore’s professional memberships include registration on the Specialist Register of the Irish Medical Council, Fellow of the Faculty of Radiology, in the Royal College of Surgeons of Ireland (FFR RCSI), and Membership of the Royal College of Physicians of Ireland (MRCPI).
