Inpatient Spine Liaison Nurse CNM2

Role summary

• To hold a key role in the management of the in-patients of the Poynton SpineCare @ Mater Private Network.
• Complete regular in-patient ward rounds in collaboration with spine consultants.
• Communicate with all consultants of the Poynton Spine Care @ Mater Private Network, other consultants or GPs who refer patients to the service.
• Work collaboratively with other persons to ensure a multidisciplinary approach to care is used for all patients referred to patients of Poynton SpineCare @ Mater Private Network.
• Provide mentorship, preceptorship and education for nursing colleagues as appropriate.
• Organise the planning and implementation of care for spine patients and their significant others.

Application criteria

• Registered General Nurse with The Nursing & Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI), or eligible to register with NMBI.
• 5 years post-registration experience in the acute hospital setting/relevant clinical area within the last 7 years.
• A minimum of three years' experience in the specialist area of orthopedics and/or spine surgery.
• Management experience desirable.
• Have the ability to practice safely and effectively fulfilling his/her professional responsibility within his/her scope of practice.
• Have evidence of continuing professional development.
• Formal recognized post-registration education relevant to the area of specialist practice at level 8 (higher Diploma) according to the Quality and Qualifications Ireland (QQI), National Framework is desirable.
