About
Education & Experience
Dr. James Dollard graduated from UCC in 2005. He did his basic specialist training in Cork before embarking on higher specialist training in cardiology and general medicine. He worked in CUH and the South Infirmary in Cork before pursuing a PhD in UCC investigating microvascular angina. Subsequently he returned to complete his dual accreditation training in CUH and Mercy University Hospital and was awarded his CSCST in 2016. He has spent two years working in the Mercy University Hospital as a consultant general physician and cardiologist and established the resistant hypertension clinic there.
Special Interests
Dr. Dollard’s sub-specialty interest is heart failure and he is undertaking advanced training in this field at the Universitäts Spital Zürich in affiliation with the University of Zürich. He has also received advanced training in the performance and interpretation of cardiac CT.
Diagnostic cardiac catheterisation, transoesophageal echocardiography, stress echocardiography, cardiac calcium scoring and CT angiography, cardioversion, urgent cardiac care.
Clinical Research & Professional Memberships
Research Interests: heart failure (reduced, mid-range and preserved ejection fraction), resistant hypertension, microvascular angina, cardiac CT + FFR, cardiac MRI in heart failure.
