About
Dr. Frank Leader is an Emergency Medicine Consultant at Mater Private Network, Cork.
Education & Experience
Dr. Frank Leader is a medical graduate of RCSI University of Medicine and Health Sciences, Dublin, and subsequently pursued emergency medicine training in New Zealand and Australia. He acceded to fellowship of the Australasian College for Emergency Medicine (FACEM) in 2020 and returned to Cork in 2021 after a year working as a flying doctor in central Australia. Dr. Leader initially worked half-time in Emergency Medicine and half-time with the Mobile Intensive Care Ambulance Service (MICAS), before moving into full-time Emergency Medicine in order to commit to education and training as the lead at Cork University Hospital’s Emergency Department. In 2026 he joined Mater Private Network in Cork as a Consultant in Emergency Medicine.
Dr. Leader has a master's degree in clinical education from the University of Edinburgh and a post-graduate diploma in aeromedical retrieval and transport from Otago University, New Zealand. He is the current ECG lead for the Irish Emergency Medicine training programme.
Special Interests
Dr. Leader is particularly interested in education and training generally, but clinically he has a strong focus on cardiology, toxicology, critical care, and paediatric emergency medicine. He has extensive experience in simulation and is an Advanced Paediatric Life Support (APLS) instructor.
