  • Aim for 30-60 minutes of physical activity most days of the week
  • Stop smoking 
  • Eat a healthy and balanced diet
  • Take medications as directed by your doctor
  • Keeping your blood pressure well-controlled
  • Keep good control of your cholesterol or blood lipids
  • If you have diabetes, keeping your blood glucose levels well controlled - if blood sugar (glucose) levels are kept within normal range the risk of developing cardiovascular disease are reduced
