About
Education & Experience
Dr. Colm Hanratty graduated from Queen’s University Belfast in 1992. He was awarded his MRCP from Edinburgh University in 1995 and MD from Queen’s University Belfast in 2000. He completed his general medical and cardiology training at Belfast City Hospital and Royal Victoria Hospital Belfast. His fellowship in interventional cardiology was in Sydney, followed by further specialist cardiology training in Belfast City. In 2003, Dr. Hanratty was appointed as an interventional cardiologist in Belfast Trust. He was clinical lead within the Belfast Trust for 8 years and was instrumental in developing the complex cardiac programme within the hospital. In April 2020 he joined the Mater Private Hospital Dublin, where he took up the role as Director of Cath Lab.
Special Interests
Dr. Hanratty has sub-specialty interest in the management of complex Percutaneous Coronary Intervention (PCI) and is internationally recognised as one of the leading interventionists in terms of complex and chronic total occlusion PCI.
Clinical Research & Professional Memberships
Dr. Hanratty’s research awards include the British Medical Association’s Edith Walsh Award, Geoffrey Holt Award and Ivy Powell Award. He was awarded research fellowships by The Stroke Association and The Royal Victoria Hospital Belfast, and the Lundbeck Medal from the Irish Association of Pharmacology.
He acts as lecturer, moderator, programme organiser, panellist or live case operator at leading conferences and meetings throughout Europe and the US. This includes PCR, CTO Summit New York, Trans Catheter Therapies, Optimal CTO, ACI London, CRT Washington, ML CTO, CTO Fundamentals, EuroCTO Club and C3 Florida.
