About

Ms. Ciara Fox is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon at the Mater Private Network, Dublin.

Education & Experience 

Ms. Ciara Fox completed her undergraduate degree in University College Dublin (UCD), before going on to a further Masters in Surgery (MCh) in UCD with a thesis on ischaemic preconditioning of skeletal muscle cells.  She also completed a Diploma in Health Services Management.

Following completion of her specialist training, Ms. Fox undertook two fellowships. The first of these was in Dublin working in the position of Hand Fellow in Plastics and Reconstructive Surgery at Beaumont Hospital and Connolly Hospital, Blanchardstown.  She then completed a further fellowship in the UK, working as the Upper Limb Fellow in Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgery between Southmead Hospital and Bristol Royal Infirmary in Bristol, UK.

She returned to Ireland and has been working as a permanent Orthopaedic Consultant in both Connolly Hospital, Blanchardstown and Cappagh National Orthopaedic Hospital since 2022. In September 2026 she commenced her private practice at Mater Private Network in Dublin.


Special Interests 

Ms. Fox’s specialist interests include rotator cuff disease, shoulder arthroplasty, thumb CMCJ (carpometacarpal joint) arthritis and CMCJ replacement surgery, and carpal tunnel syndrome.  She set up a rapid access carpal tunnel clinic in Cappagh National Orthopaedic Hospital.  


Clinical Research & Professional Memberships 

Ms. Fox is a fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (RCSI), and a member of the Irish Shoulder and Elbow Society (ISES), Irish Hand Surgery Society (IHSS), and Irish Institute for Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgery (IITOS). She is also the current IHSS Secretary and have held the post of committee member and secretary since 2024. She has authored multiple peer-reviewed publications as well as a book chapter in “Controversies in Orthopaedic Surgery of the Upper Limb”.
