Education & Experience
Dr. Rory Durand is a Consultant Cardiologist at Mater Private Network in Dublin.
Dr. Durand was awarded his degree in Medicine from University College Dublin and completed higher specialist training in Cardiology at Beaumont Hospital, St Vincent's University Hospital, Tallaght University Hospital and St James's Hospital. He undertook subspecialty training in interventional cardiology, including a two year clinical fellowship at Mater Private Network and the Cardiovascular Research Institute in Dublin. He further advanced his subspecialty training completing the complex coronary interventional fellowship at the Bristol Heart Institute in the UK.
Special Interests
Dr. Durand has a special interest in interventional cardiology. This includes the assessment and treatment of patients with coronary artery disease. He performs procedures including coronary angiography, and percutaneous coronary interventions involving coronary physiology, intravascular imaging and calcium modification.
Clinical Research & Professional Memberships
Dr. Durand is actively involved in cardiovascular research, working with the Cardiovascular Research Institute in Dublin. He has been an investigator on numerous multinational clinical trials focusing on interventional devices and treatments. He has published widely in high-impact journals including Nature Reviews: Cardiology and the European Heart Journal. He maintains active memberships with the Irish Cardiac Society, Royal College of Physicians of Ireland, the European Society of Cardiology, European Association of Percutaneous Cardiovascular Interventions and European Association of Preventative Cardiology.
