Education & Experience
Dr. McAuliffe qualified in undergraduate dentistry in 2005, following which he worked in general practice for one year and subsequently in oral and maxillofacial surgery units for three years. In 2009, he entered a postgraduate specialist training in oral surgery in UCC and completed his clinical doctorate programme in 2013. At that time, he also became a fellow of the Faculty of Dental Surgery at the Royal College of Surgeons of Ireland. Since 2013 he has been working in full-time private specialist practice and in Mater Private Cork.
He has a special interest in bone augmentation procedures, ranging from block grafting to guided bone regeneration. These procedures are often required prior to dental implant placement, where there is a defect or insufficient bone volume. He has travelled extensively throughout Europe to receive the highest level of training in this field.
Clinical Research & Professional Memberships
Dr. McAuliffe's clinical doctorate thesis involved the study and characterization of post-operative pain following wisdom tooth surgery. He is a member of the Faculty of Dental Surgery in Edinburgh, as well as a fellow of the Faculty of Dental Surgery in the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland. In relation to implantology and bone grafts, he is also a member of the International Team of Implantologists (ITI) and the European Association for Osseointegration (EAO). He currently holds the post of media officer for the Irish Association of Oral Surgery.
