About
Dr. Liam Jeremiah Healy is a Consultant Cardiologist at Mater Private Network, Cork.
Education & Experience
Dr. Liam Healy graduated from University College Cork in 2014 and also holds a BSc (Hons) in Physiology from University College Cork. He was awarded Membership of the Royal College of Physicians of Ireland (MRCPI) in 2018 and completed postgraduate training in General Cardiovascular Medicine at Cork University Hospital, Mercy University Hospital Cork, Beaumont Hospital Dublin, and Mater Misericordiae University Hospital, Dublin.
Following completion of his general cardiovascular medicine training, he undertook 18 months of focused subspecialty clinical training in cardiac electrophysiology and cardiac device management at Mater Private Network in Dublin. He subsequently completed a two-year Advanced Clinical Fellowship in Cardiac Electrophysiology and Complex Pacing at the University of British Columbia and Royal Jubilee Hospital in Victoria, Canada. In October 2026 he joined Mater Private Network in Cork as a Consultant Cardiologist.
Special Interests
Dr. Healy has a particular interest in the diagnosis and management of cardiac arrhythmias, with expertise in advanced catheter ablation techniques for atrial fibrillation, complex atrial tachyarrhythmias, supraventricular tachycardias and accessory pathways, as well as ventricular arrhythmias.
He also specialises in advanced cardiac pacing and implantable cardiac device therapies, including permanent pacemakers, implantable cardioverter-defibrillators (ICDs), cardiac resynchronisation therapy (CRT), conduction system pacing, leadless pacemakers and subcutaneous ICDs.
Alongside his subspecialty expertise in cardiac electrophysiology, Dr. Healy provides comprehensive general cardiology care, including the investigation and management of cardiovascular conditions and cardiovascular risk assessment.
Clinical Research & Professional Memberships
Dr. Healy has maintained an active involvement in clinical research throughout his cardiology and electrophysiology training, with particular interests in cardiac electrophysiology, heart failure, cardiac amyloidosis, structural heart disease, and cardiac implantable electronic devices. He has contributed to multiple peer-reviewed publications and has presented research at leading national and international scientific meetings, including the Irish Cardiac Society and the American College of Cardiology.
His research experience includes participation as a sub-investigator in electrophysiology and heart failure clinical trials, reflecting a commitment to advancing innovation and evidence-based practice within cardiovascular medicine. Dr. Healy is a Member of the Royal College of Physicians of Ireland (MRCPI) and is a member of both the European Society of Cardiology (ESC) and the American College of Cardiology (ACC).
