Education & Experience
Dr. Colin MacDonnell is a consultant interventional cardiologist at Mater Private Network Cork. He graduated with an M.B., B.Ch., B.A.O., and B.A. from Trinity College Dublin in 2013 and was awarded Membership of the Royal College of Physicians of Ireland (MRCPI) in 2017. His postgraduate training includes core medical training and higher specialist training in cardiology across major centres including the Mater Misericordiae University Hospital, Beaumont Hospital, and Tallaght University Hospital.
Dr. MacDonnell has completed advanced fellowships in interventional cardiology at the Mater Private Hospital, Dublin. He has a strong academic background with multiple peer-reviewed publications and conference presentations, and maintains a commitment to integrating clinical practice with research and audit. He joined Mater Private in Cork in August 2025.
Special Interests
Dr. MacDonnell’s clinical interests lie in interventional cardiology, with a focus on complex coronary interventions and intracoronary imaging.
Professional Memberships
Dr. MacDonnell is a Collegiate Member of the Royal College of Physicians of Ireland and an active member of the European Society of Cardiology (ESC) and the European Association of Percutaneous Cardiovascular Interventions (EAPCI).
