About
Dr. Beatriz García-Cañibano is a Consultant Neurologist at Mater Private Network in Dublin.
Education & Experience
Dr. Cañibano graduated in Medicine from the University of Cádiz, Spain in 2003 and completed her specialist training in Neurology at Hospital Universitario Puerta del Mar, Cádiz, between 2004 and 2008.
She subsequently worked as a Consultant Neurologist in Spain before joining Hamad Medical Corporation in Doha, Qatar in 2016. During her time there, she held several clinical, leadership, and academic positions, including Consultant Neurologist in General Neurology and the Multiple Sclerosis Unit, and Programme Director of the Multiple Sclerosis and Neuroimmunology Fellowship.
She holds master’s degrees in Neuroscience, Movement Disorders and Neuroimmunology, and is registered in the Specialist Division in Neurology of the Medical Council of Ireland. In August 2026 Dr. Cañibano joined Mater Private Network in Dublin as a Consultant Neurologist.
Special Interests
Dr. Cañibano’s principal clinical interests are multiple sclerosis and neuroimmunological disorders, including neuromyelitis optica spectrum disorder and other inflammatory and demyelinating diseases of the central nervous system. She also has extensive experience in general neurology and movement disorders. Her clinical practice focuses on accurate diagnosis, individualised treatment selection, long-term disease monitoring and the safe use of high-efficacy therapies.
Clinical Research & Professional Memberships
Dr. García-Cañibano served as Assistant Professor of Clinical Neurology at Weill Cornell Medicine-Qatar and as Programme Director of the Multiple Sclerosis and Neuroimmunology Fellowship at Hamad Medical Corporation in Doha, Qatar. Her research interests include multiple sclerosis epidemiology, treatment outcomes, and imaging biomarkers, and she has published extensively in international peer-reviewed journals.
She is a former Council Member of MENACTRIMS (Middle East North Africa Committee for Treatment and Research in Multiple Sclerosis) and a member of the Spanish Society of Neurology and the European Academy of Neurology.
