Education & Experience
Dr. Adeogo Olusan is a highly motivated and experienced Consultant Interventional Cardiologist at Mater Private Network in Cork. He has a distinguished career specializing in structural interventional cardiology, with extensive expertise in percutaneous coronary interventions, transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI), and a range of other structural procedures.
Dr. Olusan holds a Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree from the Faculty of Medicine & Pharmacy, University of Oradea, Romania (2012), where he graduated with distinction. He also holds a Master of Science (MSc) degree in Preventive Cardiology from Imperial College London (2018) and is a Member of the Royal Colleges of Physicians (MRCP) UK (2016).
He completed his specialist training in Cardiology at the Northern Ireland Deanery in January 2023 by achieving CCT in Cardiology. He undertook two sub-specialty cardiology fellowships: percutaneous coronary interventions (PCI) at the Somerset NHS Foundation Trust between August 2022 and 2023; and structural interventions at the Prestigious University of Leicester NHS Trust (Glenfield Hospital) between January 2024 and 2025. Between fellowships and following his structural fellowship, he worked as a locum interventional consultant cardiologist at the South Eastern HSC Trust and Glenfield Hospital respectively. He joined Mater Private Network Cork in March 2026.
Due to his contribution to the TAVI (transcatheter aortic valve implantation) programme at Glenfield Hospital there was a significant reduction in RTT (Referral-to-Treatment) from 70 to 17 weeks (January 2024 - 2025), culminating in reduction in TAVI waiting list mortality and improved productivity by 100%. This resulted in University Hospitals of Leicester (UHL) innovation and recognition award in 2024 for the Structural team, and Dr. Olusan personally won the best scientific post presentation award in Athens, Greece in November 2024.
Throughout his medical career, Dr. Olusan has acquired a wealth of experience in interventional cardiology, having held various positions in the UK and Ireland. His clinical experience spans a broad range of cardiology subspecialties, including cardiac catheterization, coronary interventions, and structural heart disease management.
Special Interests
Dr. Olusan has a particular interest in structural interventional cardiology, with a focus on developing innovative treatments for patients with complex cardiac conditions. He is fully competent in a broad spectrum of interventional techniques such as Intravascular Ultrasound (IVUS), Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT), calcium modification, and advanced structural procedures like TAVI and valve-in-valve interventions, with additional experience in patent foramen ovale (PFO) closure, left atrial appendage (LAA) closure, percutaneous transvenous mitral commissurotomy (PTMC) and transcatheter edge-to-edge repairs (TEER). He has full Adult British Society of Echocardiography (BSE) accreditation from September 2019. He is also an advocate for evidence-based medicine and strives to maintain the highest standards of clinical practice through ongoing professional development and research.

Dr. Olusan is an established clinical researcher with a strong track record of publication in peer-reviewed journals. He has contributed to numerous clinical trials and studies and has presented his findings at international conferences. His research interests include transcatheter aortic valve implantation, coronary interventions, and cardiovascular risk management.
Dr. Olusan is a member of several professional organizations, including the European Society of Cardiology (ESC), the British Cardiovascular Society (BCS), the Royal College of Physicians (RCP), and the British Cardiovascular Intervention Society (BCIS) and an Affiliate member of the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Medicine (FPM).
