Senior Medical Scientist-Haematology

Location: Eccles Street, Dublin 7

Contract: Full-Time, fixed term contract until October 2027.

Purpose of post:

To be responsible for the provision of an efficient, effective, accredited laboratory service for the patients of the Mater Private Hospital.

Professional qualifications, registration, essential skills & knowledge.

Candidates must:

1.     Possess the Bachelor in Science (Applied Science) Honours degree (Biomedical option) from the University of Dublin/ Dublin Institute of Technology, Kevin Street;

Or

2.     Possess the Bachelor in Science Honours degree in Biomedical Science from the Joint University College Cork - Cork Institute of Technology course;

Or

3.     Possess the Diploma in Medical Laboratory Sciences of the Dublin Institute of Technology, Kevin Street or the Cork Institute of Technology awarded prior to 1994,

Or

4.     Possess a recognised qualification at least equivalent to (a) or (b) above

5.     Possess a recognised qualification at least equivalent to (c) awarded prior to 1994

And

6.     Possess a postgraduate degree in the field of Medical Laboratory Science

Or

7.     Have attained the fellowship examination of the Institute of Biomedical Science

And

8.     Must be registered with CORU or eligible for membership upon completion of study or eligible for membership and in the process of applying for state registration.

And

9.     Possess Fellowship of the Academy of Clinical Science and Laboratory Medicine (FACSLM) or be eligible for Fellowship

And

10.  Possess four years experience in a medical laboratory since qualifying as a Medical Scientist in the relevant discipline.

11.  The successful candidate should possess good interpersonal skills and awareness / sensitivity towards patients needs.
