RPA Technical Specialist
The Mater Private Network, a leader in Irish private healthcare, is seeking a RPA Technical Specialist to join the IT team.
This is a permanent, full-time position.
Purpose of the role
We are seeking an RPA Technical Specialist to support the design, development, deployment, and ongoing support of robotic process automation within our healthcare interoperability team.
The role will focus on automating operational and clinical-adjacent workflows, improving data movement between systems, reducing manual effort, and supporting reliable information exchange across healthcare applications. The successful candidate will work closely with interoperability specialists, application teams, operational users, vendors, and governance stakeholders to deliver safe, maintainable, and well-controlled automations.
This is a hands-on technical role requiring strong RPA development experience, SQL capability, scripting or programming expertise, and sound judgement on when to use RPA versus API-based or system-level integration.
Skills & Qualifications
Essential Experience
- Hands-on experience developing and supporting RPA solutions using a recognised RPA platform.
- Strong SQL skills for querying, data validation, reconciliation, issue investigation, and reporting.
- Programming or scripting experience in at least one language such as Python, PowerShell, JavaScript, C#, VB.NET, or similar.
- Experience working with APIs, structured data formats, files, databases, and application interfaces.
- Experience supporting production automations, including monitoring, error handling, incident response, and root cause analysis.
- Strong understanding of process mapping, requirements analysis, testing, and documentation.
- Ability to work with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Strong attention to data quality, operational risk, auditability, and user impact.
- Experience working in healthcare, public sector, regulated, or operationally complex environments.
Desirable Experience
- Experience in healthcare IT or digital health.
- Exposure to interoperability standards such as HL7, FHIR, JSON, XML, and secure healthcare data exchange.
- Experience with InterSystems Health Connect Cloud, HealthShare, IRIS for Health, or similar integration platforms.
- Experience automating workflows involving patient administration, referrals, scheduling, waiting lists, lab/radiology workflows, document handling, reporting, or claims/billing.
- Familiarity with GDPR, information governance, cybersecurity, role-based access, credential management, and audit controls.
- Experience with Git, CI/CD, structured release pipelines, and environment management.
- Experience with Power BI or other reporting/dashboarding tools.
- Lean, Six Sigma, business analysis, or process improvement experience.
Qualifications
- Degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software Engineering, Data, Health Informatics, or a related discipline.
- Relevant RPA platform certification would be advantageous.
- Certifications in cloud, data, software development, health informatics, or integration technologies would also be beneficial.
