About

Education & Experience  

Dr. Gianluca Cotta, graduated in Medicine from the University of Pavia in 2008, having also spent one year studying at the University of Barcelona in 2006. He completed his specialisation at the University Hospital of San Pau, Barcelona, which included observation in the field of interstitial lung diseases in King’s College Hospital, London. He sat the ERS Hermes European Diploma Examination in Adult Respiratory Medicine in 2015. 

Dr. Cotta gained his Master's Degree in Methodology of Research in Health-Related Science from the Autonomous University of Barcelona in 2016 and he collaborated with ICFO, the Photonic Science Institute to conduct research studies on sleep related disorders. He presented his studies at various conferences, including the ATS Conference in Washington in 2017. 

He has worked as a consultant in the University Hospital of San Pau, the University Hospital of Bellvitge and the Private Hospital of Barcelona. Dr Cotta also took up a role in a project coordinated by The Spanish Respiratory Society to provide healthcare professionals with knowledge of spirometry in a hospital in Managua, Nicaragua. 

Special Interests  

His main areas of study range from assessment and management of COPD, interstitial lung disease and lung cancer to sleep related disorders and chronic respiratory Iifection. In addition, Dr. Cotta specialises in diagnostic bronchoscopy and polygraphy.
