Today, April 12th is the 5th annual Workplace Wellbeing Day. To mark this, the Mater Private Dublin has organised multiple events to promote wellness of the mind, body and spirit. We all work in a busy environment so it is important to take a step back and look at the little things we can do for ourselves on a daily or weekly basis.
It is important that we keep our spirits up while doing the hard work that we do - an uplifted spirit will have a positive influence on many others. In light of this, we have organised several activities such as a lunchtime walk and book swap. We also had guests from Junior Achievement, a non-profit organisation that supports staff going out to schools local to the area, to speak with and motivate groups of students from senior infants to sixth year.
In order to promote wellness of the body, our Phlebotomy department in conjunction with the Lab and Occupational Health have kindly arranged time for blood testing and blood pressure checks for staff. We also had the opportunity to enjoy Head and Neck Massages provided by Stressless.
The final part of our workplace wellness day has included a variety of activities to promote mental health. We hosted ‘Breathe through Stress and Anxiety’ workshops facilitated by Minding Me. We also had a talk from Stephanie Reagan and Associates about Work Life Balance and building your own resilience. Pension portal company, Willis offered advice about pension schemes to provide us with insights and solutions to unlock their full potential.
Overall these events have a great success and thank you to everyone who got involved in one way or another. We will continue to organise wellbeing staff events, as our personal health and wellbeing is just as important as that of our patients.
