WE had our first four patients at Mater Private Cork undergo our new coronary function testing protocol which includes coronory angiograph, Fractional Flow Reserve (FFR), Coronary Flow Reserve (CRF), the Index of Microvascular Resistance (IMR) and the acetylcholine coronary vasospasm assessement.

This is the first time a comprehensive coronary function test incorporating ACh testing has been used in the Republic of Ireland.

Dr. Barry Hennigan, Consultant Cardiologist at Mater Private Cork, said: "We had some interesting conversations with patients afterwards, some of whom have been symptomatic with negative workups/angiograms and unclear diagnoses for years. This assessment seems to change the conversation from 'your pain might be from' to 'your pain is from'."

Dr. Hennigan thanked Professor Keith Oldroyd and Dr. Tom Ford for their advice and to Mark and his colleagues from Abbott for use of the Coroventis System.
