Notifications in advance of Papal Visit Saturday 25th and Sunday 26th of August

In advance of the Papal Visit to Dublin on Saturday, August 25th and Sunday, August 26th we would like to advise patients and their families/visitors of the following: 
  • The hospital will be operating as normal this weekend. Please note that our ED department is not open at weekends. 
  • We will endeavour to discharge all patients scheduled for discharge by 10am on both Saturday and Sunday. Please make appropriate travel arrangements in accordance with this.

Travel Restrictions

Please avail of public transport where possible. Temporary road closures and parking restrictions will apply on Saturday and Sunday. 
The M50 will be fully open on both days. Only the inbound lanes at J6 Blanch, J7 Lucan & J9 Red Cow will be closed to all vehicles apart from buses on Sunday 26th. Other than those junctions all other ones are open. If traveling to the hospital it is advisable to take one of the following exits: 
  • 5  -  Finglas R135, N2 Derry, Ashbourne
  • 4 -  Ballymun, Naul R108     
  • 3 - Belfast, Dublin Airport M1, Malahide R139
Dublin City remains open for business with the eastern corridor largely unaffected (M1, Port Tunnel, Eastlink).
Dublin North
There are minimal road closures north of Eccles st.
