The Mater Private Pathology Department achieved their 8th consecutive accreditation award from INAB (The Irish National Accreditation Board) on the 23rd November 2016.
The department has been accredited since the year 2000. Originally this accreditation was with Clinical Pathology Accreditation (CPA) UK and since 2008 we have transferred our accreditation to the Irish National Accreditation Board (INAB).
Our Blood Transfusion Department (including Haemovigilance) was the first department to be accredited by INAB on 22nd April 2008. Since then, Haematology, Immunology, Biochemistry, Microbiology and Histopathology have all successfully transitioned from CPA (Clinical Laboratory Accreditation) to INAB accreditation.
Our inspections occur on a yearly basis and consist of a one day inspection with six inspectors, one for each individual department (each expert in their chosen field) and two quality management inspectors.
Accreditation demonstrates conformance with legal requirements, official regulations and EU directives. It represents dedication to ongoing and continuous compliance with the highest standard of quality.
Accreditation also ensures that patients and their doctors can have confidence in the laboratory service being offered here at the Mater Private Hospital in Dublin.
