Speaker: Prof. Daniel Blackman, Consultant Interventional Cardiologist at Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust, UK

Title: "Long-term durability of Transcatheter Aortic Heart Valves"

Professor Dan Blackman MBChB MD MRCP is Consultant Interventional Cardiologist at Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust, Professor of Interventional Cardiology at the University of Leeds, Chairman of the British Cardiovascular Intervention Society Structural Heart Group, and Director of the UK Valve for Life programme. Professor Blackman is one of the leading interventional cardiologists in the United Kingdom, and has an international reputation in the field of trans-catheter valve intervention, including TAVI. He has performed over 2000 TAVI procedures, has proctored TAVI worldwide, and is also active in the field of trans-catheter mitral valve intervention including trans-catheter edge to edge repair (TEER). Professor Blackman is a committed innovator and clinical researcher in interventional cardiology, and has published well over 100 peer-reviewed articles in the field. Having been Honorary Secretary of the British Cardiovascular Intervention Society from 2016 to 2020, he is now Chair of the BCIS Structural Group and leads the Valve for Life programme, aiming to increase access to keyhole valve therapies across the UK.
