Speaker: Dr Alison Duncan, Associate Specialist in Cardiology and Transcatheter Valve Therapies at The Royal Brompton Hospital, London, UK.

Title: "Intra-procedural echo guidance for structural heart disease transcatheter procedures".

Dr Duncan has over 20 years’ experience in clinical transthoracic, transoesophageal, stress, and 3D echocardiography, has full BSE and European Accreditation in TTE and TOE, was awarded a PhD from Imperial College London in “Physiological Stress Echo and Heart Failure” in 2004, and was the Clinical Lead of RBH Echocardiography Department 2007-2011.  

Since 2011, Dr. Duncan has been the Structural Heart Disease Lead Interventional Echocardiologist at The Brompton. She has guided over 1500 TAVI procedures and 300 transcatheter mitral edge-to-edge repair procedures. She is the UK Chief Investigator for 2 global transcatheter mitral valve implantation devices (Abbott Tendyne and Medtronic Intrepid), guided the 1st worldwide Tendyne device in 2014, and is the UK Chief Investigator for the international RESOLVE-MR study and the Tendyne Mitral Valve (TENDER) registry. She is the UK Chief Investigator for the multicentre transcatheter mitral valve repair procedure using the Edwards Harpoon device, and has guided 40 transcatheter mitral Neochord procedures, as well as numerous mitral valve-in-valve procedures. With the recent advent of transcatheter tricuspid valve repair techniques, Dr. Duncan has echo-guided 20 tricuspid edge-to-edge repair procedures.  

Dr. Duncan is Faculty member of the London PCR Valve Therapies, Transcatheter Mitral Valve Interventions (UK and Ireland), CSI Frankfurt, Heart Valve Society, BISMICS, EACTS, ISMICS, and the British Cardiovascular Society. She has been an invited lecturer at over 100 national and international meetings and has published over 100 original articles in peer-reviewed journals including Circulation, EuroIntervention, Catheterization and Cardiovascular Interventions, JACC, Circulation, International Journal of Cardiology, European Journal of Heart Failure, Annuals of Thoracic Surgery, European Journal of Echocardiography, American Journal of Cardiology, American Heart Journal, and Heart.
