Speaker: Prof. Flavio Ribichini, Professor of Cardiovascular Medicine and Director of the Cardiovascular Intervention Laboratories of the University of Verona.

Title: "PCI in patients undergoing TAVI — before, after or never?"

Prof. Flavio L. Ribichini graduated in Medicine in 1986, at the National University of Cordoba, Argentina.

Was fellow in Internal Medicine in Argentina in 1987-88 and board certificated in Cardiology at the University of Torino in 1992.

He trained in interventional cardiology at the University of Paris VII, Henry Mondor Hospital in 1994, the Stanford University in Paolo Alto California in 1995, the Mount Sinai Medical School, New York in 1996 and was Research Fellow of the ESC in 1997-98 at the OLVZ Cardiovascular Centre in Aalst, Belgium.

He has been full time interventional cardiologist at a Public Hospital Santa Croce di Cuneo, of the National Health Service, and pioneered the performance of primary angioplasty in STEMI patients in a center without cardiac surgery on site.

He became Assistant Professor at the University of Piemonte Orientale in 2002 and directed the Cardiovascular Interventional Unit of the Ospedale Maggiore della Carità di Novara until 2006.

In 2006 was nominated Associate Professor of the University of Verona and director of the Cardiovascular Interventional Unit of the Ospedale Maggiore di Verona until 2017 when we become Director of the Division of Cardiology. The University Hospital in Verona is the referral center for Cardiac Transplantation, Pediatric Cardiology and Cardiac Surgery, Shock center for acute heart failure and is an international training center for complex coronary and structural interventions, as well as for renal denervation.

Since 2018 is Full Professor of Cardiovascular Medicine at the University of Verona and Director of the School of Cardiovascular Medicine with more than 100 fellows and PhDs.

He is the Director of the Heart Lung and Vascular Department, including cardiac surgery, vascular surgery, pediatric cardiology and surgery, angiology, pneumology and the Regional center for cystic fibrosis.

He is Scientific Director of the International Master in Interventional Cardiology of the University of Verona.

Is Member of the Task Force for Guidelines in Myocardial revascularization of the European Society of Cardiology, the Editorial Board of the European Heart Journal and Senior Editor for Latinamerica of the International Journal of Cardiology.

Since 2024 is the Secretary of the European Society of Percutaneous Cardiac Interventions of the ESC.

Author or co-author of over 450 full publications on clinical and basic cardiovascular research available on PubMed.
