Eye Laser at the Mater Private is one of the largest and most experienced units in the country. Our Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeons offer bladeless, wavefront guided customised laser treatments using the most up to date femtosecond and excimer technologies.
The Eye Laser Centre has performed over 20,000 refractive surgeries since established in 1992.
Thousands of satisfied patients have come to recognise our commitment to the highest standards in quality care provided by world leaders in their field.
We perform Laser Eye Surgery to treat:
- Short sightedness (myopia)
- Long sightedness (hyperopia)
- Presbyopia (the need for reading glasses)
Our surgeons are highly qualified Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeons with extensive experience in the use of Excimer and Refractive Surgery. Patient suitability varies for treatment and our experience ensures a range of treatment options are available.
In addition to providing laser eye surgery to get rid of your glasses or contact lenses, we perform intraocular lens implantation surgery for patients unsuitable for eye laser surgery. This can be the case if you are too short sighted or too long sighted for laser surgery. An intraocular lens is placed just in front of the natural lens, acting a little like a contact lens within the eye. The Mater Private Hospital has performed over 1500 such procedures, more than any other centre in the country.
We also perform Corneal Crosslinking to treat Keratoconus.
Commitment to Up-to-Date Technology
At the Mater Private Eye Laser Centre, our main priority and focus is to provide the safest and most advanced techniques for correcting vision. We employ only the most up to date technologies including the Ziemer Femtosecond and Technolas Excimer lasers. For keratoconus treatments, we use the accelerated Avedro crosslinking system. The intraocular phakic lenses implanted in patients unsuitable for laser surgery include the Ophtec Artisan and Artiflex lenses and the Implantable Collamer Lens (ICL).
