Mr. Muiris Kennedy is a Consultant Orthopaedic Upper Limb Surgeon who specialises in the full of range shoulder surgeries, including open and arthroscopic (keyhole) procedures. His sub-specialist areas of interest include Shoulder Instability, Arthroscopic Rotator Cuff repairs and Shoulder Replacement Surgery.
Mr. Kennedy is a graduate of University College Cork, and started his postgraduate Orthopaedic Surgery training in 2004. He completed the higher surgical training scheme in Orthopaedic Surgery in Ireland at the start of 2014, before spending 2014 and 2015 as an Upper Limb Surgical Fellow. He was the Shoulder Fellow in the Cambridge Shoulder and Elbow Unit, focusing on Arthroscopic Shoulder Instability and Rotator Cuff tendon repairs. Mr. Kennedy was also the Upper Limb Fellow at the Avon Orthopaedic Centre in Bristol.
Mr. Kennedy returned to Ireland in 2015, and has been practising as a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon specialising in Upper Limb Surgery since. He has a Masters in Surgery and has published over 20 peer-reviewed publications, winning the British Trauma Society Presentation of the Year in 2011. Mr. Kennedy has on-going research interests in shoulder and elbow injuries. He is a clinical supervisor for higher surgical trainees in Orthopaedics and Trauma Surgery for the RCSI.
Mr. Kennedy is also a founding member of the 'Irish Shoulder and Elbow Society', and a member of the 'British Elbow and Shoulder Society'. He is a fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland and a member of the Irish Institute of Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgery and the Irish Orthopaedic Association.
