Mr. Gordon P. Smyth MD, MSc, FRCSI (Urol)
At the Mater Private Mr. Smyth will be available to see patients for both consultation and surgical treatment across the range of general urology complaints. His sub-specialty interests are in the area of uro-oncology.
Mr. Smyth performs minimally-invasive surgery for prostate and kidney cancer, as well as for benign conditions of the kidney (pyeloplasty, simple nephrectomy etc.). As part of his postgraduate training, he completed a year long fellowship at L’institut Montsouris in Paris in minimally-invasive (laparoscopic and robotic) surgery, with a particular emphasis on prostate cancer. The surgeons at Montsouris were among the first in the world to develop the technique of laparoscopic radical prostatectomy, and make it reproducible and safe.
The Mater Private carries out the most robotic assisted prostatectomies in Ireland. With his new clinic at the Mater Private, Mr. Smyth looks forward to now having the opportunity to offer this highly skilled surgical alternative to appropriate patients.
