An opportunity has arisen in our Microbiology laboratory for a full time Senior Medical Scientist/Surveillance Scientist.
The successful candidate will be a crucial part of the microbiology/infection prevention and control team in the Mater Private Network and will support the Chief Medical Scientist in Microbiology in the provision of an effective accredited Microbiology laboratory service for the patients of the Mater Private Hospital. The duties of the role will be divided between surveillance and the main microbiology laboratory.
Candidates interested in applying for this position must be a Fellow of or be eligible for Fellowship of the Academy of Clinical Science and Laboratory Medicine. Candidates must have at least four years’ experience in a medical microbiology laboratory since qualifying as a medical laboratory scientist.
- An up to date knowledge of disease surveillance and diagnostic clinical microbiology is essential
- A high level of computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Access and Powerpoint
- In depth experience of data analysis and interpretation, and the preparation and presenting of meaningful reports.
