At Mater Private Network, our billing and payment process has changed recently. For any costs not covered by private health insurance, prepayment is now required when confirming the booking for your test, treatment or procedure.

If you are being treated at Mater Private Dublin, a member of the Scheduling team will discuss these details with you when contacting you to confirm your booking.

  • Inpatients/Day Cases: for insured patients where there is a shortfall or excess you will be contacted for payment by the Finance team 48 hours before your admission. If you are a self-paying patient, you will be contacted for payment 7 days before your admission.
  • Outpatients: if you received a text message or an email before your appointment you may be able to pre-pay by calling 01 885 8856 (option 1); otherwise, you will be required to pay the full amount of the day of your procedure or alternatively you can pay using the MyMaterPrivate app or visiting the Pay your bill section.

If you have private health insurance, different providers and plans may have different levels of cover and payment requirements. Some plans may not include cover for certain tests, treatment or procedures, or require you to pay an excess, or prepay in full and reclaim expenses afterwards.

If you don’t have private health insurance or if your plan doesn’t cover costs in full, you may be able to claim on your day to day expenses or cash benefit plan; you should contact your insurance provider about this. You may also be able to claim tax relief on any medical expenses not reimbursed by health insurance or other such plans. Details available on www.revenue.ie.

If your private health insurance plan includes direct settlement, you will not be required to pay for your test, treatment or procedure yourself; your insurer will pay Mater Private on your behalf.

When you attend Mater Private you will be asked to sign an insurance form. This should be signed by you so the hospital can send your bill directly to your insurance provider. If you do not wish to sign this form for direct settlement, you will be required to prepay the amount in full and claim this back from your insurance provider afterwards.

If you have private health insurance, you may be required to pay what is called an “excess” for your test, treatment or procedure. This is an agreed amount that your insurance plan requires you to pay directly to Mater Private Network. The remaining cost is paid by your insurance provider.

Please be advised that this cost must be paid in advance, before your booking can be confirmed.

If your insurance plan does not include the insurer paying Mater Private directly, you are required to pay the full cost of your test, treatment or procedure to Mater Private Network, and reclaim this cost from your insurance provider afterwards.

Please be advised that this cost must be paid in advance, before your booking can be confirmed.

If you intend to pay for your test, treatment or procedure yourself, please be advised that you must pay the full cost in advance, before your booking can be confirmed.
