Gynaecological Cancer
Gynaecological Cancers are those which can start in various different parts of a woman’s reproductive system
Each type of cancer is named after the organ it originates
- Cervical Cancer
- Endometrial Cancer ( Uterine Cancer or Womb Cancer)
- Ovarian Cancer
- Uterine Sarcoma
- Gestational Trophoblastic Tumour
- Fallopian Tube Cancer
- Vulval cancer
- Vaginal cancer
The most common types of gynaecological cancers are cervical cancer, ovarian cancer and endometrial (uterus) cancer.
The causes and risk factors of gynaecological cancer vary among the different types but there are common symptoms such as:
- pelvic pain
- abnormal vaginal bleeding
- vaginal bleeding during or after sexual intercourse
- persistent abdominal swelling or bloating
- unintended weight gain or loss
- persistent bowel changes, like diarrhoea or constipation
These symptoms are common to many female problems so while they shouldn’t cause huge alarm, they are really worth getting checked out.
