Breast Cancer Treatment
Each year the hospital diagnoses and treats over 200 women with breast cancer. In 2009 we conducted 32% of all breast cancer surgery in the north east region.
Treatment for Breast Cancer can include some or all of the following:

Chemotherapy

Radiotherapy

Surgery (e.g. lumpectomy, mastectomy)
During your first appointment you will meet the Breast Care Nurse who will follow you through your breast cancer journey, ensuring continuity of care.
Your Breast Care Nurse provides specialist advice, support and emotional care to you and your loved ones.
You will also meet with members of the multidisciplinary team who all work together and who touch on you and your care as you go through your journey. This team is really important as it brings together the skills of several different disciplines to provide the best possible care and treatment plan for you.
You team will discuss and agreed with you the best course of treatment for you based on your individual situation
