The Mater Private Hospital began providing services to patients with a cancer diagnosis when it opened in 1986. Over the last 25 years the hospital has developed these services considerably and they are now organised as a comprehensive Cancer Centre.
The Mater Private Cancer Centre is dedicated to ensuring all patients have access to the latest developments, technologies and specialist expertise. The guiding principal in the Cancer Centre is that every patient with a potential or actual cancer diagnosis receives the highest standard of care in an environment that supports their physical and emotional needs.
Patient care at the Mater Private Cancer Centre is provided by a group of more than 40 Consultants across a range of specialities including Radiology, Pathology, Surgery, various Medical Specialties, Radiation Oncology, Medical Oncology and Palliative Care. These experienced Consultants are assisted by a team of nursing and health professionals who are dedicated to supporting each patient through their cancer journey.
The Cancer Centre comprises of two established units.
The Cancer Centre in the Mater Private Hospital in Dublin which provides all required services for oncology patients in the one setting from diagnostics to surgery, chemotherapy, radiotherapy and end of life care
The Mid-Western Radiation Oncology Centre in Limerick. Operated by the Mater Private Hospital, the Mid-Western Radiation Oncology Centre is located in the Cancer Centre on the grounds of the Mid-Western Regional Hospital, Limerick. The centre works as part of the wider cancer services team and treats both public and private patients.
